Willy Schneider (1907-1983) German composer, musicologist and conductor wrote his ‘Partita für Fagott solo’ in 1981 for Gerhard Hase of Stuttgart. A piece centred on Hindemith's style. The first movement ‘Moderato, un poco rubato’ is very reminiscent of the first movement of Gordon Jacob's Partita. Overall, the music is moderately challenging and very captivating. I think it is a piece that should be performed more in the solo bassoon repertoire.
