By Dario Argentesi (Ferrara, 1985), a student of Luis Bacalov, we present Quadrille for solo bassoon.
The
title refers to the quadrille, a dance of French origin that was especially
popular in 19th-century European salons, characterized by a sequence of figures
and contrasting sections.
In this
work, Argentesi reinterprets this model in a contemporary way, employing a
tonal or moderately modal language enriched with neo-classical influences. The
composition unfolds in brief, contrasting episodes that highlight the
expressive and technical possibilities of the bassoon.
